How we write these pages

The LINFA team writes these pages, using the same data as the app. When the data changes, the page changes too.

Where the numbers come from

How often to water, how much light a plant wants and the temperature below which it suffers all come from LINFA’s catalogue, the same one the app uses for every plant. The catalogue is built from the plant profiles of botanic gardens and university extension services. It keeps its values as ranges, because no two plants indoors live in quite the same conditions.

Why the days are a range

How often to water depends on the light, the pot, the room and the season. So the pages give a range and ask you to feel the soil before you water. The app goes further and works from the place where each of your plants actually stands.

The date at the top

It’s the day the page or the plant’s data last changed. When the catalogue changes, the page is updated and the date with it.

Photos and drawings

The plant photos are the same ones the app shows for each species, and you’ll see who took each one when you open it. The drawings come from the app.

If you find a mistake

Write to us from the Support page. We’ll correct the page and, if needed, the catalogue.
