How it works

Coming soon to Android

  1. All your plants on a map, with one scan.

Walk your phone around the room, balcony or garden and we find your pots and draw them where they stand. You can also draw the map yourself.

  2. Identify a plant from one photo.

Take a photo and the name appears for you to confirm or change. We also measure the pot, because it changes the plant’s rhythm.

  3. How much sun each plant gets.

See roughly how many hours of direct sun each plant gets, through a window indoors or in any corner outside, and how many it needs. LINFA+ also shows how a pot would do somewhere else before you move it.

  4. How often to water? Feel the soil first.

A plant in a small pot in full sun dries out sooner than one in the shade. Each day you see which plants to check and the reason for each, then you feel the soil and decide.

  5. When did you last water it? You don’t have to remember.

Every watering, feed, pruning and photo goes into the plant’s history, along with how the soil felt when you touched it, and the next check takes all of it into account.

  6. How to prune: what to cut, and when.

Before you reach for the secateurs, open the pruning guide. It tells you when to cut and what to take off, based on horticultural sources, and covers many plants, bonsai included.

  7. A watering reminder, only when it’s needed.

We let you know when it’s a plant’s turn, each one at its own time. The calendar already shows what’s coming in the next few days.

Plant diseases

Yellow leaves or spots? Photograph the leaf.

You see what might be wrong with a sick plant and what to look for to narrow it down. It’s a first opinion, not a diagnosis. LINFA Free includes one photo check a month.

Frequently asked questions

What is LINFA?

LINFA is a plant care app for plants at home, on a balcony or terrace, or in a garden. It looks at each plant’s sun, pot and season and tells you every day which ones to check, with the reason.

Does it remind me when to water my plants?

Yes, each plant at its own time. When a plant needs checking you get a reminder with the reason, such as dry air or a small or terracotta pot. Feel the soil, water if it’s dry, and leave it if it’s still damp.

Is LINFA free?

Yes, to start. LINFA Free covers up to 5 plants in a room, on a balcony or in a garden. A LINFA+ subscription lets you add as many as you like; the App Store and Google Play show the price in your country.

Do I have to scan with the camera?

No, you can draw the map by hand. Scanning is quicker, because it finds your pots and puts them on the map, but it needs a fairly recent phone.

Does it work for houseplants?

Yes. Scan your rooms, windows included, and you’ll see roughly how much sun reaches each plant, just as you would on a balcony or in a garden.

Which languages is LINFA in?

English, Italian, German, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese and Dutch.

Where can I download LINFA?

On the App Store, for iPhone. Coming soon to Google Play, for Android. It’s free to start.

What we do with your location and photos

We use your location for the weather and for the sun your plants get. Photos you send for a photo check are read by the services listed in the privacy policy. You can delete your account and all its data from the app.
